April 23, 2010

Sorry, another photo of my fridge photos. My Mum pointed out recently that it didn't go unnoticed that I didn't have a picture of her on there! Mum, your photos were with some others on the bookshelf beside the fridge, but I moved one of them onto the fridge for safe keeping! It's one of my favourites, a photo of Mum, my sister Jade and myself when Mum, Dad and I went into northern Pakistan to suprise Jade for her birthday. It was a very good trip, and memories that are very special to me.

The boys make it across the finish line in Verbier. They were all exhausted, but very happy to have completed the race, and we were all very proud of their massive achievement.

April 21, 2010

My first visit to Zermatt. We came for the start of the Patrouille des Glaciers, a big ski race that they boys (Karl, Matt and JP) are competing in. It starts here in Zermatt and finishes in Verbier tomorrow. While the boys were resting before their 10pm start time, I went for a walk around town. I loved how warm and inviting these chairs looked with their soft furs to keep you warm!

April 20, 2010

The boys decided to cut down a tree that causes trouble on the driveway in the winter. If you look closely you can see Bert with his chainsaw, and the tree being pulled over by the boys who were standing up by the hostel.

April 19, 2010

The light seems different now that the winter is leaving. Or maybe it's the ash cloud??? Just kidding.

April 18, 2010

It was our first wedding anniversay today! We celebrated by going to Friburg to see an exhibition of the World Sustainable Architecture Awards.

April 17, 2010

I didn't get up to anything too exciting today, although I did hang new blinds on the kitchen windows to help with the bright spring sun.

April 16, 2010

After my interview, Lauren and I went to Cookie for a celebratory dinner. Kid planted this daffodil Cookie sign last autumn, and now that the snow has thawed, the daffodils are starting to flower.

April 15, 2010

My portfolio finally finished for my interview tomorrow.

April 14, 2010

My new printer finally arrived. It was supposed to come in 24 hours, so I guess 4 days was probably pretty good!

April 13, 2010

The river in Aigle, it's really flowing now with all the snow melt!

April 12, 2010

The Easter decorations are still up in the village!

April 11, 2010

Doing the groceries today I found strawberries on sale. Check out the size of these punets, and they only cost 1.50chf!!

April 10, 2010

I spent the morning making my portfolio for a job interview this week.

April 9, 2010

Babysitting again. Check out how adorable these shoes are!!

April 8, 2010

I went for my first run after the winter. The building on the top left is our apartment building. It's hard to see it from here, but the balcony pots were adding a nice bit of green to the building.

April 7, 2010

Down in Aigle today to visit the art store, and all of the magnolias are out. There are these massive trees in bloom everywhere, and they are stunning.

April 6, 2010

Babysitting again. Fun times were had by all.

April 5, 2010

The girls I was babysitting today wanted to do some colouring. This meant I had to sharpen some pencils!

April 4, 2010

Easter Sunday, and I'm back at the Club Med babysitting.

April 3, 2010

Sorry, nothing too exciting today, so here is our balcony again! Fortunately the plants survived the snow with only a few frost bitten leaves.

April 2, 2010

Good Friday, and the day to make figolli for us Maltese. I tried to make them yesterday, but they weren't what I would call successful so I tried again today with much more success. I couldn't find a good cookie cutter (normally we make figolli is different shapes) so I had to stick with circles, but I think they still came out ok!

April 1, 2010

So it turns out the promise of more snow was NOT an April Fool's Day joke. I should have listened when I was warned to bring my pots in last night.

March 31, 2010

I spent the day babysitting today. After a nice walk out in the snow, Marta had a little nap. I love the way babies sleep in the strangest positions!

March 30, 2010

After planting all of my balcony pots, the sudden threat of more snow meant they all had to come inside. Our apartmen is very cosy, so the pots take up almost our entire living room floor!

March 29, 2010

Karl and I finished our new balcony garden today, and I finally got around to hanging the lanterns I bought at Ikea with Katy last autumn! We went for practicality and beauty, with herbs in some pots, and red geraniums with white daisies in the others. One of my favourite parts of living in our village is when all the chalets get adorned with red and white flowers, in a quiet sign of patriatism!

March 28, 2010

A quiet day was had today, and we finished it off with pizza and wine at the hostel with Cynthia!
